Oh, Kovalchuk You Devil: Game One, Two Assists…

((HT: NHL/Rogers Sportsnet))Wearing his familiar number 17 the Newest New Jersey Devil, Ilya Kovalchuk ((pictured picking up two points last night in two ways, thanks Saed Hindash/Newark Star-Ledger)), was paired with Jamie Langenbrunner and Dainius Zubrus for his coming out party against the Toronto Maple Leafs.The end result: two assists in the 4-3 win. The Devils were, actually, down 3-1 with five minutes to go in regulation.

Nets to Move Before they Move

The Nets want out of the Izod Center so badly, they’re going to move to Newark before they move to Brooklyn. The Nets have reached a preliminary lease agreement with their old Meadowlands roommates, the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, that will have both teams co-habitating at the Prudential Center starting next season, the New York Daily

A Devil of a Move

The Washington Capitals look like Tier I Stanley Cup contenders right now, not with the way they have been playing (especially in their last four games), but because they’ve strung together 13 wins in a row. If the Caps were in the playoffs right now and hypothetically played three teams in three series, they’d figure to be be in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals in relatively short order. They are the class of the East.
